Relationship Maps series.

Using materials which both decay and preserve, the impulse to create has been an exercise in visually expressing the relationship between remembering and forgetting. My exploration of self is grounded in the sights and sounds of influential, intangible events. I construct tangible forms which conceptually embody impermanence and physically teeter on the verge of preservation and destruction.
The resulting artifacts become a means to genuinely preserve the moments which would otherwise fade. The connection between material and immaterial is reflected through the versatile physical qualities of materials used. With each layer added, materials respond to and react to one another all while creating a cohesive tribute to memory. Moving forward, I aim to push the idea of permanence through examining more experiences tied to identity.
