Artifact series.

Work of this nature is created using various layers of shellac, pigment, and etching in conjunction with learned processes to illuminate the history of a given memory. Creating completely preserved artifactsThe resulting artifacts become a means to genuinely preserve the moments which would otherwise fade. The connection between material and immaterial is reflected through the versatile physical qualities of materials used. With each layer added, materials respond to and react to one another all while creating a cohesive tribute to memory. Each piece becomes evidence of the relationships and moments while paying homage to tradition. Honoring a tradition of utility and family, my work has become a means to genuinely preserve the moments which would otherwise fade. Using the evidence of my experience to preserve the visible traces of a life lived.
